Welcome to the JBC Leadership site!

This site has been a long time in coming. Given all of the leadership efforts in which I’m currently engaged, it became time to put together a site in which my voice is presented unfiltered, where I can provide a few thoughts from time to time on where we are as a country and a culture.

In 2019, the Barna Group conducted a survey which found that

82% of young adults say society is in a leadership crisis.

I certainly can’t disagree with the perception of this emerging generation. We see the need for leadership in every area of our culture, especially in what Peter Kreeft refers to as “the three main mind-molding establishments in today’s society” — in universities, journalism, and entertainment. And we find this crisis elsewhere in politics, business, and the church.

In a world of competing voices, who gets our attention and our allegiance? When we find ourselves at the crossroads of decision-making, how do we know where to go? And who is going to lead us there?

That is largely why I felt it necessary to offer my own perspective on where we are, as well as, a few ideas on where we ought to go. It was the leaders of Issachar in ancient Israel who, it was said, “understood the times and knew what Israel should do” (1 Chronicles 12:32). We certainly need more leaders like that today—men and women who understand our times and who know the way forward, the way toward the truly Good life.

Thank you for allowing me a little bit of your mindspace as we consider together where we are and where we want to be. Hopefully, what is presented here on this site will be of some value to you on your own journey. Thanks for coming along!
